Children among 7 dead in Texas after tornado



 Children were among the casualties of a tornado that hit Texas outside the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least seven individuals.


A severe weather outbreak caused extensive damage across America's Heartland, with reports of over 20 tornadoes from Texas to Missouri.


A deadly tornado from the severe storms hit the Denton-Cooke county lines on Interstate 35.


Sheriff Ray Sappington of Cooke County stated in a press conference that at least seven people were killed and many more were injured near Valley View, including children.


Numerous injuries occurred at an AP Travel Stop and Shell station, where many sought shelter from the tornado.

The tornado caused extensive damage as it swept through northern Denton County late Saturday night. County officials reported homes destroyed, RVs overturned, and power lines down in the area.


Lake Ray Roberts Marina and RVs suffered significant damage.


Over 1 million power outages were reported in the Houston area after a 100 mph derecho was spotted from space.


The sheriff confirmed the tragic deaths of a 2-year-old and a 5-year-old found on Sunday morning.


Local authorities warned that the death toll could rise as search and rescue operations continue.


At the start of Sunday, around 100,000 customers in Texas were without power.


National Weather Service teams will evaluate the damage to determine the tornadoes' strength on the Enhanced Fujita Scale in Texas.


Teams from NWS Fort Worth are assessing damage in Montague, Cooke, Denton, and Collins County, while teams from NWS San Angelo are inspecting damage in Callahan and Eastland County.
